The teachers told us...
... the Romans built this place
They built a wall and a temple, an edge of the empire
Garrison town...
That was written for another Walls End and in fact the actual (Antonine) wall's end was at Carriden, three miles away. Or possibly at Crammond.
However, Kinneil, the part of town we live in, was apparently once called Pennhafel or wall's end.
A few weeks ago, on a beautiful hot sunny spring Sunday afternoon, I wandered along to Kinneil House, about five minutes walk from here. The walk into the house follows the line of the roman wall (as does the main road at the top of our street).
Kinneil House dates from the 15th century.
These cottages are still occupied

Cottage where James Watt conducted experiments

Finally, the view walking down our street, our house on the left with my green car in front).
