Gardening

I seem to have hit some sort of a limit on steam fair photos, more anon. Here is one of the garden from today, hosted elsewhere.

I'm quite pleased with how it is looking. The bed now runs all the way to the patio and I need to start contouring the earth where the horrible heather was, as seen in this picture from April below, so that it can be turfed. The two brick high wall needs demolishing as well.

I've pruned the roses a bit today, Iceberg and Graham Thomas were getting rather leggy and Molineux missed a needed prune last year. Also planted Crown Princess Margareta (climbing) near the patio and Buttercup at the furthest end. Today's other plantings, in the new section, were two white lavenders (Madrid) and two orange Geums (Kashmir), bought from a Council disabled employment scheme.

I am worried about Glamis Castle, which is just not growing well. Have fed it, dead headed it, given it a bit more soil round its base and watered it well today. My mother has suggested mulching as well.
