Inchcolm Island

On the 7th of May we went out to Inchcolm Island in the Firth of Forth for the day.
Inchcolm is known as the "Iona of the East" and is one of the best preserved abbeys in Scotland. Its not as ancient as its western counterpart, only dating from the 12th century.

The World War I/II fortifications on the island reminded me a lot of North Head in Auckland.

We couldn't explore many of them as it is sea gull nesting season and they are, apparently, a bit aggressive!
